Ceredigion Flying Start - Family support services


What we do

Flying Start is a Welsh Government initiative which aims to provide more support and opportunities for families with children under the age of 4. Flying Start services are delivered either face to face, in groups, online, or by phone.
#CeredigionFlyingStart provide:
- Early Years Health Service. Our Early Years Health Team consists of Health Visitors and Family Workers who can offer intensive support when needed. Health Visitor Hub number: 07970 501 609 (9.am-5pm, Monday-Friday).
- Funded sessional Childcare of the highest quality for children aged 2 - 3. The childcare is provided within a setting of your choice for 2 and a half hours a day, 5 days a week for 39 weeks of the year.
- Parenting Support through 1:1 work or in local groups.
- Support to develop children's talking, language and communication skills through 1:1 support or a group to nurture skills and awareness.

Who do we support

Normally, Flying Start is available for every eligible family that lives within a #CeredigionFlyingStart postcode area, which are:
- Cardigan
- Penparcau
- Llanarth
- Llandysul
- Aberporth
-Llechryd

Can anyone use this service?

Flying Start groups and courses are currently available to families all across Ceredigion. The program is available for every family that lives within specific postcodes, please visit our website and enter your postcode into our postcode checker to see if you are eligible.

  • Can provide specialist support for families of children with disabilities / additional needs Yes Please contact to discuss your child(s) needs further. Health support is adapted for children with disabilities. Some members of staff have the ability to use sign language. We provide an Autism specific programme and a Family Links course, specifically for parents of children with a Disability or Special need.
