What we do

A young carers is someone under the age of 18 who takes a caring responsibility for someone who is ill, disabled, elderly, experiencing mental distress or affected by substance misuse, etc. Barnardos Young carers provide practical support or emotional support or both to parents or siblings. Barnardo's young carers project provides afterschool groups, activity days, residentials, individual 1:1 support, new learning opportunities, information and advice, advocacy and awareness raising etc.

Who do we support

Supporting children and young people who care for and look after family members affected by health issues, disability or substance misuse.
Children aged 8-18.

Referrals are accepted from external agencies as well as self-referrals Agencies have access to our Referral Form and can make requests via telephone / email
