Torfaen Children and Young People's Autism Support Service - Family support services

What we do

The ASD Support post aims to support children and families through exploring their current situation in a solution focused way, through listening, providing relevant information, and signposting to other professionals who may be able to offer help.
Liaising with parents, health and education staff can help to maximise learning and social interaction within schools and local communities.

The ASD Support Service can serve as a bridge between the family and school, ensuring that the child/young person with autism is accommodated in the most appropriate way. In addition, the service can provide:-
An opportunity to discuss thoughts, feelings, or concerns.
Information on aspects of autism or other appropriate services that are in existence.
Training for school staff, parents and other professionals.
Using person centred thinking tools the service aims to support children and families in two distinct ways post diagnostic support and support for pupils undergoing transition.

No

Can anyone use this service?

Referral form for parents of children with a diagnosis of autism, and report confirming the diagnosis. Drop in sessions booked via local parent support group or Autism Support Officer.
