Dal Dy Dir - Family support services

What we do

Dal Dy Dir provides respite, supported breaks and residential placements for families with disabilities at our 4 acre site in Newtown. We understand that the cost of specialist holidays can be prohibitive, so we have created a cost effective 6 day short term supported package at our primary location based in Newtown, Powys. With a wide range of activities, their animal therapy sessions featuring tame goats, sheep and chickens, and their forest school and music workshops gives the whole family a chance to learn new skills in a supported warm and safe environment. The Forest is a beautiful four acre holiday complex with 4 cottages, nestled in a magnificent valley on the outskirts of Kerry which offers cosy and comfortable cottages with all the amenities of home. Everyone needs a holiday and Dal Dy Dir’s innovative programmes bring families together, create memories and support siblings and the whole family in a settled relaxing non-judgemental atmosphere.

Who do we support

We offer families with respite needs the opportunity to attend a supported short break, in a rural setting.
We have a philosophy of working with both individuals and their families using an inclusive family approach to ensure the most positive outcome possible for the long term and we work hard to enable families to spend time together as a whole and provide support to improve relationships and provide opportunities to bond as a family. Tailored activities give family members the opportunity to learn new skills, have new experiences and find ways to develop more independent.
The family is assigned a personal Coach Specialist who will contact the family prior to the break to ascertain their personal, physical and emotional requirements. From this, a bespoke programme of activities and support is planned for the week. Activities will be offered on 1-2-1, group or family basis depending on each families’ personal requirements
