Girl Guiding for children with additional needs - Children and young people's activities

What we do

Girl Guiding in Wales is an opportunity for girls aged 5+ to learn new things, make new friends and develop new skills. We work to provide all girls, regardless of their situation, with unique experiences, that they may not otherwise have been able to enjoy. Meeting weekly, girls are able to develop in a safe, girl-centered environment, where they can share their new experiences, and grow to achieve their full potential.

Part of my new initiative involves plans to introduce Girl Guiding units into hospitals, hospices and SEN schools, to bring Girl Guiding to girls who may not have been able to access it in the past.

But I also want to encourage parents and guardians of girls with disabilities to approach us at Girl Guiding in Wales, to discuss the needs of each individual girl, and enable us to best help reduce any concerns they may have. Girl Guiding is a very flexible and supportive organisation, and we regularly alter our program to best suit girls who need extra support.

Who do we support

Any girl over the age of 5 is invited to join Girlguiding Cymru! But they are split into different sections: 5-7 - Rainbows 7-10 - Brownies 10-14 - Guides 14-25 - Senior Section.
