Children’s Autism Support Service - Family support services


What we do

The Children’s Autism Support Service (CASS) is run by Barnardo’s
Cymru on behalf of Vale of Glamorgan Families First. The service supports families with children (aged between five and 18 years) who
have and have not received a formal Autism diagnosis.
Via online and face to face meetings, we provide information and strategies to help you, your child and family. We amend our support to meet each developmental change as your child grows.

Who do we support

The service supports families with children (aged between five and 18 years) who have and have not received a formal Autism diagnosis.

One to One Support - For families of children who do not have a diagnosis aged between five and 18 years. Based on your individual requirements for you, your child and family, you will be given the
opportunity to work with the Barnardo’s team for up to eight weeks.

Cygnet Parenting Group for children who have a formal Autism diagnosis and who are aged between nine and 18 years.
The Cygnet programme is an evidenced based programme, designed to support parents/carers in the understanding and management
of Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC).
This is not just a service for parents, carers and families, we also offer dedicated workshops to professionals regarding our work.

No

Can anyone use this service?

A referral is required. Your family will be referred to Barnardo’s via Vale of Glamorgan’s Families First Advice Line. Please note we will endeavour to source a translator if needed
