(FAMILIES FIRST) - Parent Support - Family support services


What we do

The Parent Support Service is part of the Families First /Flying Start Programme and is here to give advice, tips, information and guidance on your child’s development. It aims to enhance positive family experiences, improve parent-child and parent-parent relationships and increase their confidence. We offer one to one parent support but also group interventions that include the suite of:
• Welcome to the World Programme
• Incredible Years Baby, Toddler
• Solihull
• Parent Nurture Programme
• Take 3
• New Forest Parenting Programme
• EarlyBird, EarlyBird+ and EarlyBird Teen Life
• Dads Group

Intervention is offered to parents and families based on the age and need of the child. Programmes range from Babies aged under 6 months up to parents of teenagers aged 16. The parent support intervention is also specialised and offers group support for parents with children diagnosed with ASD and AD/HD

Who do we support

For families with children aged 0-16yrs
We offer parenting support that works with parents to reduce risks; strengthen parenting capacity; develop and build resilience and sustain positive change in the best interests of children. Keeping a strong focus on positive outcomes intended for children and young people and reflecting their rights, support for mothers, fathers and carers is provided that aims to :

• enhance positive parenting skills
• improve parent–child relationships and parent-parent relationships;
• develop positive attitudes, aspiration and resilience
• strengthen parents’ understanding of child development
• increase parents’ confidence in their parenting role
• increase parents’ confidence and skills in providing a positive home learning environment and supporting their child with their learning.
